Document Translation

Automated translation of documents by computer is not yet at an acceptable level. It is still necessary for a human being to interpret the meaning behind the words to provide an accurate and sensible translation.

Everyone has seen cases of bad translations in brochures, websites and instruction manuals. Don't let it happen to you. Translating is a job for professionals.

Which languages from and to?

We only use translators to translate into their mother tongue. We can handle many different languages and combinations.

How technical?

We need to understand how technical the document is - what technology or specific vocabulary is required. Our network includes many people with specific technical expertise as well as being a professional translator.

How long is the document?

Generally the word count in the target language is used for pricing purposes. Many languages use more words than English. French and Spanish for example can require between 10% and 20% more words than English.

When is it required for?

It is important to allow sufficient time to find the right translator and for them to do the job properly.

E-mail and formats

Most documents are transmitted by e-mail. Fax is undesirable but we can cope with many electronic including ZIP and HTM files.

Virus Checking

We take computer viruses very seriously and are concerned to ensure that we do not suffer from or disseminate computer viruses. We have what we believe to be the best available service for checking all electronic communications both in- and outbound for computer viruses. Every e-mail and all attachments are automatically checked to ensure that to the best of our ability all communications are clean. As most translations are transmitted electronically this is an important factor.

 

Interpreting

"Sequential" or "simultaneous" interpreting? - An important difference.

Sequential interpreting is frequently used for small meetings and groups where the interpreter works alongside the speakers.

Simultaneous interpreting for conferences seminars and other events requires several interpreters, headsets for delegates and booths for the interpreters. It gives a very professional finish to an international conference but is also relatively more expensive.

In both cases the interpreters need to be briefed beforehand and have any specific technology or jargon.
